ARTESOL Spelling Bee 2015 – Winners

Forty-six contestants participated in the 2015 ARTESOL National Spelling Competition at Centro Cultural Borges on Saturday, October 3.

The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Ricardo Ramirez introduced the members of the jury and read out the contest rules. ARTESOL president, Ms. Graciela Martin welcomed the contestants and thanked ARTESOL Spelling Competition collaborators and supporters. Ms. Linda Talluto, Assisstant Cultural Affairs Officer from the US Embassy, also welcomed the contestants and congratulated them on their hard work. The contest started at 9:45 after listening to the National Anthem.

There were a total of 9 rounds. Sofia Favier Dubois became the champion on round 7. Two more rounds took place to determine the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners.

Building Networks Among Teachers

ARTESOL EFL JOURNAL

A refereed national journal of issues in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL)

Dear Colleagues,

This is a call for articles from ARTESOL EFL Interest Section for 2015 edition of ARTESOLEFL JOURNAL, a refereed journal of issues in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. ARTESOLEFL Journal, Building Networks Among Teachers receives submissions of unpublished manuscripts on any topic related to the area. https://artesol.org.ar/publications/efl-journal

Four categories of manuscripts are evaluated:

Contributions. short articles published by prestigious ESP specialists.

Research Articles. This is a section devoted to the publication of research articles that will be refereed by three renowned researchers.

Pedagogical experiences in ESP. This section includes the description of new experiences (strategies, techniques, course design) within ESP.

Reviews. This section includes reviews of books and journals published by Universities, Teacher Training Colleges and other institutions interested in the development of ESP courses or studies.

Articles should be submitted in Microsoft Word or RTF document format. Full-length articles should be no more than 5,000 words, excluding appendices. For more details, see the submission guidelines and the sample articles here.

Please note that the deadline for your contributions is September 30, 2015. Your articles should be submitted at artesolefljournal@gmail.com.The editorial board will contact you as soon as your article goes through the different stages of the review process.

Best Affiliate Presentation Nominated

The presentation Higher Order Thinking Skills in the Language Classroom by Luciana Fernández has been selected by ARTESOL executive committee as Best Presentation at the 2015 ARTESOL Convention. The presentation was nominated for TESOL Best of Affiliates.

Each year eight TESOL affiliates present sessions at TESOL Convention. These sessions are submitted as the best session from over 100 affiliate conferences. TESOL International is responsible for the selection of the eight BEST sessions. These eight BEST will be presented at TESOL 2016 in Baltimore, USA.

This presentation aims at exploring the different levels of thinking and how language teachers can plan instruction which fosters learning of a language through the development of thinking, engaging their learners in challenging and motivating activities.
