-a fee waiver to register for the ARTESOL Annual Convention. -a year-round complimentary ARTESOL membership. -an invitation to contribute with your presentation in ARTESOL publications ARTESOL ESP Journals or Building Bridges Among Teachers.
Guidelines
Those who are interested in applying for this award should:
● Submit a 250–300 word statement of interest. Devote four to five sentences to outlining your academic qualifications in EFL/ESL, and briefly mention your relevant teaching experience. The main focus of your statement, however, should be your application to the award: clearly explain why you are applying, what makes you a strong candidate, what you hope to gain from attending the Convention sessions, and how this experience will contribute to your professional development as a teacher or instructor.
Some recommendations:
● focus on clear, factual information; ● use straightforward language maintaining a formal tone; ● respect the word limit (250-300 words) and keep your writing concise; ● submit your application on time, ensuring it meets the stated deadline.
The recipient of the Mabel Gallo Award is expected to actively participate in a wide range of Convention activities, including plenary sessions, highlighted sessions, presentations, and professional meetings. Within two to three weeks after the Convention, the recipient should submit feedback to ARTESOL. This should include a brief report outlining the sessions attended and an evaluation of them. Such feedback is highly appreciated, as it will contribute to the planning of future events and support the ongoing development of the ARTESOL association.
