Argentina TESOL applauds those teachers who dare raise their voice to foster the growth of the ELT profession through the First Time Speaker Award. This recognition is open to novice or senior professionals in the area of ESL/ EFL who present a proposal for the first time to share their expertise, their research and/ or their stories of student success.

*Who can apply?

Candidates who are not sponsored by any other organization and who have an accepted proposal for ARTESOL 2024.

*How should you apply?

Interested candidates should complete/ submit the following information by July 31.

The application should include:

-a professional biographical statement written in the third person

-a statement of interest (around 500 words) describing your teaching experience and specifying your motivation to apply for this award, your own learning expectations and how attending the sessions may cater for them. Finally, the way in which your participation in the event will expansively benefit the community of ELT professionals

the commitment to write an article for ArTESOL EFL Journal on the topic of the selected session or the experience itself as an instance of continuous professional development.

This application should be sent to argentinatesol@gmail.com by July 31.

*What does the award consist in?

The recipient of this award will receive:

-a fee waiver to register to the ARTESOL 2024 Convention.

-a year-round complimentary ARTESOL membership.

-a personalized online coaching session on public speaking and 21st century presentation skills

-a personalized coaching session for writing an article for ARTESOL’s journal

Argentina TESOL welcomes and looks forward to all applications that comply with the above-mentioned requirements.

A Refereed National Journal of Issues in teaching English for specific purposes Foreign Language (EFL)

Dear Colleague,

ARTESOL ESP Interest Section would like to invite you to contribute to ARTESOL ESP Journal, a refereed international journal of issues in Teaching English for Specific Purposes.ARTESOL ESP Journal, receives submissions of unpublished manuscripts on any topics related to the area.

Organization of the journal

Contributions: short articles published by prestigious ESP specialists.

Research Articles: This is a section devoted to the publication of research articles that will be refereed by three renowned researchers.

Theoretical articles: This section includes articles in which the authors reflect on the connections between learning and theories through the analysis, observation, description, and evaluation of a specific topic

Pedagogical experiences in ESP: This section includes the description of new experiences (strategies, techniques, course design) within ESP.

Reviews: This section includes reviews of books and journals published by Universities, Teacher Training Colleges and other institutions interested in the development of ESP courses or studies.

The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2024. Your article should be submitted to artesolespjournal@gmail.com. The editorial board will contact you as soon as your article goes through the different stages of the review process. Once your article has been accepted, it will be published within one year from October 31, 2024.

AMPLIFYING IMAGINATION IN ELT

Quilmes (Province of Buenos Aires), August 9-10, 2024

Argentina TESOL is an Argentine organization with broad interests. It is planned for professional development and provides opportunities for social interaction among colleagues who share common interests in the region. The organization committee invites teachers of English as well as translators to share presentations dealing with classroom practices, research in language learning and teaching, preferably those in relation with teacher and professional development and the21st century challenges. We welcome proposals from teachers, advanced students, researchers, program administrators, and materials and curriculum developers, including those in related disciplines such as Communication, Education, Linguistics, Foreign Languages, Anthropology, Sociology and Psychology.

PLEASE, BEFORE YOU START, PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION

Demonstrations, research papers, workshops, and round-table discussions WILL BE ALLOTTED 45 MINUTES. Then, there will be five to ten minutes for questions.

Turbo talks WILL BE ALLOTED 20 MINUTES.

A proposal will be disqualified if:

  • It is incomplete or completed without following the guidelines in the call.
  • It includes the presenter(s) or organizer(s) name(s) or institution(s) in the title, abstract, or summary.
  • It contains plagiarized content.
  • It promotes a commercial interest.
