It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my nomination to serve as a Vocal on the ARTESOL Directive Board. Being part of the ARTESOL community has been one of the most meaningful experiences in my professional journey, and I would be honored to contribute more actively to its mission of fostering excellence and collaboration in English Language Teaching across Argentina.
I hold a degree in English Language Teaching and have devoted my career to education as a teacher, teacher trainer, and academic coordinator in diverse contexts, including teacher training institutes and educational leadership programs. My work focuses on empowering teachers and students to build continuing learning communities through reflective practice, authentic communication, and professional growth.
Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of participating as a presenter at the ARTESOL Conventions in 2023, 2024, and 2025, delivering two workshops at each event that addressed innovative strategies for engaging learners and integrating literature and technology. In addition, in July 2025, I facilitated a webinar for ARTESOL members, aiming to extend professional development opportunities beyond the convention itself.
This year, receiving the Mabel Gallo Award deeply moved and inspired me to continue contributing to the English Language Teaching community within ARTESOL. This recognition reaffirmed my belief that education transforms lives and that our association plays a key role in creating spaces for teachers to connect, share, and grow together.
I am motivated to join the Directive Board because I strongly believe in building bridges among teachers from all regions of Argentina, particularly those working in contexts where professional opportunities may be limited. My contribution would focus on strengthening ARTESOL’s outreach, promoting initiatives that integrate research and classroom practice, and designing actions that nurture a sense of belonging and continuous learning within our community.
I am prepared to dedicate approximately 2 hours per week to ARTESOL-related responsibilities and to intensify my collaboration in the weeks prior to and during the Annual Convention. I fully understand that serving on the Board involves responsibilities such as attending meetings, participating in decision-making, collaborating in the organization of conventions and webinars, and representing ARTESOL’s mission in different educational forums — all of which I am eager and ready to undertake with commitment and enthusiasm.
I firmly believe that the strength of ARTESOL lies in its people — in our shared purpose, passion, and generosity as educators. It would be an honor to serve as a Vocal on the Directive Board and continue contributing to the growth and vitality of our association.
Warm regards,
Prof. Gonzalo Díaz
