In the light of the current situation concerning the Coronavirus outbreak, and after much thinking and careful deliberation, the Board of Directors of ARTESOL has made the difficult decision to cancel the ARTESOL 2020 Convention scheduled for May 15 – 16 at the Universidad Nacional de Lujan, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was not a decision easy to make but the safety of presenters, attendees, exhibitors, and people involved in the running of the convention was our primary concern.

The association values all the time, effort, and enthusiasm you all have put in preparing for this year’s Convention, and we are aware of the disappointment our decision will cause. This is the main reason why we are exploring ways to offer options to share past presenters’ work on online platforms.

We will do our best to hold our next year’s convention in May at the same venue. All payments made to the association will be promptly refunded, and confirmed speakers will have their proposals automatically included in the program of ARTESOL 2021.

Let’s keep our spirits high and not see this as a lost opportunity but as a delayed one. As soon as possible, we will all start focusing on planning the next year’s ARTESOL Annual Convention to ensure that it will be a valuable and successful event.

Congrats to Andrés Villalba!!

Andrés Villalba’s presentation ¨Flipped Learning activities with smartphones, tablets and laptops¨, presented at ARTESOL 2019,   was selected by TESOL International as Best of Affiliates.

Each year six TESOL affiliates present sessions at TESOL Convention. These sessions are submitted as the best session from over 100 affiliate conferences. TESOL International is responsible for the selection of the BEST sessions. These six BEST will be presented at TESOL 2020 in Denver, USA.

Flipped Learning activities with smartphones, tablets and laptops

In this workshop, the presenter will discuss how flipped learning techniques can be used in the teaching of English. Technology is used in flipped learning classrooms to teach languages as well as other subjects. During the workshop, teachers will learn how to plan, organise, design and create flipped activities to use in class when teaching literature and getting students to practice writing, reading, listening and speaking.
