ARTESOL values their members’ academic contributions to the ELT professions as presenters. If their proposal is accepted, ARTESOL 2026 members will receive a fee waiver for the convention.

  • In the case of multiple presenters on a single presentation, each presenter should be an ARTESOL member.
  • Presenters are entitled to submit multiple presentations.
  • May 1, 2026 is the deadline for presenters to pay the corresponding membership fee.
  • Fees are non-refundable, but transferable.
  • No advertising of commercial products is allowed during a presentation.
  • Each proposal presenter should also complete the pre-registration form

The following general topics may be presented in the 2026 Convention:

  1. Teaching/learning of the four macro skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in different educational levels.
  2. Trends in macro skills assessment practices.
  3. Trends in online or in-person teaching. This may include but is not limited to: the role of teachers as facilitators, genre-based pedagogy, task-based learning, blended learning, technology-mediated learning, games and gamification, project-based learning, social-emotional learning, multimodal literacy, among other topics.
  4. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the ELT classroom.
  5. English for academic and professional purposes.
  6. Intercultural communicative competence.
  7. Global citizenship education.
  8. The role of L1 (and other languages) in ELT teaching and learning.
  9. Inclusive practices in ELT.
  10. Teaching and learning English in different sociocultural contexts.
  11. Advances in research and future directions in ELT.
  12. Key global trends shaping the demand for English use.
  13. Teachers’ and students’ identities and beliefs.
  14. Challenges in Spanish- English translators’ training.
  15. Critical language awareness.
  16. Environmental sustainability and ELT.
  17. Mindfulness and well- being in education.
  18. Contributions of neurolinguistics to ELT.

STEPS IN SUBMITTING THE PROPOSALS

Submission steps for Demonstrations, Workshops, Research Papers, Round Tables, and Poster Sessions.

Step 1– Title

Choose a title that will be clear to the intended audience, and limit it to a maximum of nine words. Capitalize only the first word, proper nouns, and acronyms, do not put the title in quotation marks. Example: Music and movement for kindergarten and the primary grades.

Step 2– Abstract 

One requirement of the proposal form is to provide an abstract that will appear in the program book, alphabetized under the first presenter’s last name, if the proposal is accepted. The abstract helps convention participants decide which presentations will be most appropriate to their concerns and needs. The abstract should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • It should not exceed 100 wordsInformation provided after word #100 will be deleted.
  • It should be written in the third person, future tense (“The presenter will begin by… She will then…”).
  • It should avoid all references to published works.
  • It should be carefully edited and proofread.
  • It should be written to draw the most appropriate audience to presentation
  • It should adhere to the specific guidelines.

Step 3– Biographical Statement

It should not exceed a maximum of 50 words per presente. Information provided after word # 50 will be deleted. Give your first name, family name, institutional affiliation, and relevant activities or publications. Degrees are normally listed, and titles such as professor are not capitalized. You can generally omit “currently”.

Step 4– Summary

One-page summary of the presentation content, equivalent to a one-page summary, line spacing 1.5 lines, font Arial 11. Make sure that the best format (e.g., research paper, demonstration, etc.) has been selected and that the material outlined can be covered in the allotted time.

Summary Content description for each type of presentation/proposal

(a) Demonstration: central purpose and description of what will be demonstrated.

(b) Workshop: statement of goal, synopsis of the theoretical framework, precise description of tasks to be performed.

(c) Research Papers: synopsis, including central and supporting ideas.

(d) Round table: central purpose and description of what will be discussed.

(e) Turbo talk: statement of goal, description of tasks.

Summary Writing Guidelines

(a) One-page summary of the presentation content, equivalent to one A4 page summary, 1,5 line spacing, font Arial 11.

(b)The presentation’s purpose and point of view are clearly stated.

(c) Familiarity with current practices and/or research is evident.

(d) The contents have been carefully edited and proofread.

(e) Do not state presenters’ names on the summary form.
