Planning for the Real Classroom, with Paola Danesi

Monday, February 9, from 6 to 7 pm

New Visions for New Paradigms in ELT
Planning is often reduced to a routine administrative task—linear, repetitive, and disconnected from real classrooms. But classrooms, students, and learning have changed. So it is time to revisit planning: what still works, what needs adjusting, and what must evolve. This session invites teachers to reimagine planning for real learners and real 21st-century demands, exploring key shifts from coverage to impact and from content to experience, while sharing concrete ideas that integrate differentiation, emotion, humour, and joy. Because better planning creates better learning.

Paola Danesi is a graduate English teacher from Instituto de Enseñanza Superior en Lenguas Vivas “J. R. Fernández” (Argentina), where she currently teaches Language III in the English Teacher Training Programme.
She holds international TESOL qualifications in Communicative Teaching, Sociolinguistics, and Materials Design from the Institute of Education, University of London.
Paola is a teacher trainer in in-service professional development programmes for state-run primary schools through Escuela de Maestros (Ministry of Education, City of Buenos Aires) and regularly delivers training sessions in bilingual state schools across the city.
She coordinates and supervises bilingual programmes in primary education and serves as a tutor in the Diplomatura en Actualización Pedagógica para la Enseñanza de Inglés en Primaria at the University of Morón.
She has designed two widely attended online courses for English teachers for Portal Maestros (Ministry of Education, City of Buenos Aires):
“21st Century Skills in the English Classroom” and “Formative Assessment to Boost Meaningful Learning and Self-Esteem.”
Paola is currently Head of English at Buenos Aires English High School and English Coordinator at Iosef Caro School.
She has co-authored several teacher’s books and educational materials for major ELT publishers and has delivered talks, workshops, and webinars on a wide range of ELT topics at national and international conferences.

Rock your classes with games with movement!

Workshop

It has been thoroughly proved that movement deeply enhances learning.
Having students sit quietly in rows is a worst-case scenario for the brain,
since in order to learn, it needs participation from its partner, the body.
Movement is crucial to every brain function, including memory, emotion,
language and learning. Come to this workshop and learn a collection of useful
ideas of very simple games that incorporate movement, to teach both
vocabulary and grammar, that may be used with students of different ages
and varied levels of English.

Nylia Monté is a Psychologist (USAL), and an English Teacher (UTN). Postgraduate
Studies in Neurosciences (U.B., U.C.A. and USA). Head of English at NEA 2000
School. Co-author of books Games Galore 1! A Treasury of Useful Ideas for
Teachers and Games Galore 2! A Treasury of Communicative Activities and Rock
& Pop Songs for B1 & B2 Students.
