María Silvina García is an EFL teacher who has worked at different primary and secondary schools in Paraná, Entre Ríos since 1991 and is currently a lecturer and teacher-trainer at Universidad Autónoma de Entre Ríos. She holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and is a Cambridge ESOL oral examiner.
Teacher Education: What teachers-to-be need to know
This presentation aims at providing a reflection on Teacher Education as an integral process that has a profound impact on the education system, especially in the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language.
Also, an analysis of the complex local sociocultural context and the different learning and personal processes that are involved in teacher education will be provided in order to propose or discuss issues related to how teachers-to-be get ready to face the aforementioned challenging teaching environments by developing or applying theory accordingly and developing creative alternatives to become good EFL practictioners.
