Mabel Gallo received Share Life Achievement Award
This award aims at honoring a professional career that Share Academic Committee has deemed to be meritorious and praiseworthy, not necessarily one that has met with extraordinary success, but one which deserves the profound respect of the ELT community.
Magister Mabel Gallo graduated as a Profesora en Inglés at Instituto Superior del Profesorado “Dr.Joaquín V. González” . A Fulbright Scholarship enabled her to do graduate studies in English and American Literature at Stanford University. She also obtained a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from California State University, Los Angeles.
As a nonnative teacher of English at ICANA, Instituto Cultural Argentino Norteamericano, her life progressed from being an English learner, to becoming an English teacher at all levels, Head of Professional Development, Assistant Director, and “Rectora” of the Teacher Education College of ICANA, the institution where she spent 50 years of her professional life.
Mabel claims she owes a lot of her professional growth to networking with colleagues in her workplace a
nd in the Professional Associations in which she has actively participated. She is a close friend of SHARE’s and is a founding member of Argentina TESOL, ARTESOL, an affiliate of TESOL international . She was elected to serve on the TESOL International Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006.
